Last Wednesday, the annual conference of the Globalization & Localization Association (GALA) came to an end.
After a very positive experience at last year’s conference in New York, EVS Translations participated again this year – this time in Amsterdam.
There was a steady flow of traffic at the EVS Translations stand over all three days.
Both Edward Vick and Dr. Florian Schwieger took the opportunity to speak to suppliers, colleagues, competitors, and potential customers from the translation industry.
The program of events for the exhibition also included industry-specific seminars and workshops.
As a forward-looking company, EVS Translations sets great store by being fully up to date in terms of both strategy and product technology.
Yet despite the many seminars on rapidly growing and innovative business areas, the fierce competition within the translation industry was clear to see.
Only companies that move with the times and equip themselves with innovations – such as machine translation, automatic translation, and artificial intelligence – will withstand the pressure.
Highly specialized markets such as legal or website translations, including SEO support, are the future. Only those who find a niche will be able to establish themselves on the extremely competitive translation market in the long term.
We need to wait and see how the industry will develop over the coming years, but one thing is clear: not all of this year’s participants at the GALA Conference will be there again next year.
