2017 – Looking Ahead

What is keeping the translation industry busy in 2017? – EVS Translations is asking itself several questions for the New Year

It feels like you’ve only just finished celebrating on New Year’s Eve when Epiphany suddenly comes around. EVS Translations is ready for 2017 too – not with gold, frankincense or myrrh, but with professional translations, advisory services for large projects and technical translation solutions for your company.

Instead of making countless resolutions – and only halfheartedly keeping them – EVS Translations is asking itself several questions for the New Year:

What is keeping the translation industry busy in 2017?

Machine translation vs. human translation: Will human translators soon be replaced by machines? Will this jeopardize the art of translation and translators’ jobs?

In the future, will there still even be in-house translators in a translation company or will all jobs be handled by freelancers?

Private equity vs. owner-managed company: Small translations offices are increasingly being swallowed up by larger ones. Then what will be left? Quality or quantity?

Are Google Translate, Skype Translate and real-time translations using cell phone cameras altering the value of quality in translations?

How will the question of data protection be solved? Can small translation companies compete with the standards of large market leaders?

Boutique or vendor’s tray? Are niche providers with specialized translation expertise and individual customer solutions better than all-around translation offices?

EVS Translations will be guided by all these questions throughout the Chinese year of the fire rooster. However, there are some things that don’t have to be read in the stars but that are already certainties. For example, from March 26 to 29, you can take the opportunity to learn more about EVS Translations at the GALA Conference 2017 in Amsterdam or at the “German Mittelstand – Southern SME Forum” on April 3 in Chattanooga, TN. You can meet us in Bulgaria from May 17 to 19 at BULMEDICA/BULDENTAL in Sofia. Our team will also be represented at the tekom Annual Conference from October 24 to 26, 2017 in Stuttgart. Come visit us and help expand your business with ISO-certified specialist translations.
